After receiving scholarship offers from Tennessee, Florida State, and Clemson, Mount Vernon Senior, Nnenya Hailey made her choice official today.  In front of the student body, her coaches, and family she announced she will be attending Clemson University next fall.

In an official signing ceremony, Mount Vernon celebrated the accomplishments of Hailey.  As an accomplished athlete, Nnenya set state records in the 300 meter hurdles and won nine individual state track event championships.  Her crowning moment came this past summer when she won the gold medal at the World Youth Championships held in Lille, France in the 400 m hurdle event.  Athletic Director, Mark Heiser sang her praises saying, “Nnenya is a true student-athlete with a cumulative GPA of 3.5. and who is also selfless as she volunteers each summer at Grady Hospital.”

Adding to her achievements, Nnenya was crowned Mount Vernon’s Homecoming Queen last fall.   Joining Nenya on stage to recognize her success was Head of the Upper School, Tyler Thigpen, Athletic Director, Mark Heiser, Varsity Girls Basketball Coach, Sharon Burnette, and Nnenya’s biggest supporter, her Mother, Mrs. Cecillia Hailey.
